Bemerton Soul Day 1

We are pleased publish some early reports of Day 1 of Bemerton Soul. This just in from our man in the field (quite literally), Steve Mawhinney:

I’m happy to share the good news about our first ever Monday at Bemerton Soul. It has been an odd day for our city but the country of Bingfield Park was an oasis of calm at a turbulent time.

Things were generally quiet around the Bemerton but yet we still had 25 kids in the park and 15 young people on the bus so I think that makes it our biggest ever day!

Our intrepid explorers discovered a lot about this new country. They competed for Bingfield dollars, learnt the national anthem, met the royal family of Queen Audrey and Guy and made their own passports.

It turns out that the country of Bingfield Park had only two members – Queen Audrey & Guy. Luckily about 25 people wanted to sign up but how could they be a member?

And we learnt about a country Jesus told people about – the Kingdom of Heaven. It started small and grew and grew and grew and is still growing. And we can join because of Jesus. We’ll be learning more about the Kingdom of Heaven and the country of Bingfield Park as the week goes by.

News from our traveling party of on the youth bus was also positive. Initially take up was slow but there was a surge in the last half-hour and a large group arrived then.

That’s all from me but let me leave you with some shots of the day from our chief photographer Mark Fletcher:

Amazing first day on the Bemerton, exploring the new country. Great turnout, lovely weather, lots of fun and no injuries. Thanks for your prayers so far!
