Wow! What a week it was. It’s taken a while for the day 5 update but that’s because there was so much going on. Here’s a little taster:
Our day began as usual with the afternoon kids club and youth bus but as it’s Friday that means one thing – our drumming workshop. A huge thank you to the Psalm drummers for leading this again and certainly one of the highlights of the week.
And things were only to get better as the evening meant our end of week celebration. We had football on the sports pitch, the youth bus was open for business, the barbecue was in full flow and lots of kids stalls including face painting, craft and treasure hunt.
For those who wanted something a little more sedate they could relax and enjoy the sounds of the London Vocal Project. It was great to have them on board and it added a real party feel to the Friday evening.
It was amazing to look around the park and every corner of it alive with fun, laughter and people having a good time. As one kid said, ‘I thought this going to be boring but it’s actually good’. High praise indeed!
More? As the evening progressed it was time for the kids to shine. They showed off what they learnt at the drumming workshop to parents and friends getting a rapturous round of applause at the end.
As ever we had our annual tug-of-war. The result. As ever the kids won.
The kids also sang their team songs to everyone and the National Anthem of Bingfield Park - Lead me Lord.
And finally the bit everyone was waiting for, the prizes. There were prizes for every team but the wining team was … Green Forests.
Well done Green and well done everyone for making it such a great week. 40+ kids in the kids club, 20+ young people on the youth bus and the park buzzing on Friday evening. What a week!
Message additional – Bemerton Soul Sunday. We looked back on the week that was at St. Andrew’s and All Saints church on Sunday 14th. A chance to share the highlights of the week, interview some people who were there and for one last story about Bingfield Park and the Kingdom of Heaven. A real celebration and a chance to praise God for the week.
So that’s it for another year but we’ll be back on 13th August 2012 for Bemerton Soul 2012. And keep checking this website for news of what else is happening in our parish.
