Bemerton Soul: Day 4

The weather reports may not have been good today on Bingfield Park but a little heavy rain didn’t dampen spirits at Bemerton Soul (pun intended).

The club began as normal at 2.30pm but 15 minutes later we had to call a halt to proceedings and make a dash for the Paget Centre. No matter a few games of Splat! quickly passed the time inside while we waited for the clouds to clear.

And clear they did so we were able to head outside into the dry and start to throw water over each other. Yes Thursday was Messy Water Day at Bemerton Soul. The kids got a little wet, some leaders got very wet and Steve got very, very, very wet. (The names of those responsible have gone in the book.)

Despite the weather we had our biggest turn out of the week at the kids club – 35 kids. And that’s not counting the 15-20 on the Youth Bus. We even had some new kids today and to think we might never have met them if we’d have stopped after 3 days.

Today we found out about the story of the Unforgiving Guy. Guy had his debt of 1 million Bingfield Dollars forgiven by the Queen yet he didn’t forgive the debt of 100 Bingfield Dollars that Rene owed him. Hardly fair! And Bee told us how this was similar to a story Jesus told about the Kingdom of Heaven – we should forgive others as God has forgiven us.

And this was quite a good theme to pick up with in the small groups where we discussed with the kids about forgiving people. Was it hard to forgive? Who did they need to forgive? What would the world be like if people said sorry and forgave each other?

We head into our last day tomorrow but it’s a good one. We’ve got the last chance to win points for your team, a drumming workshop and then our end of week party in the evening.

If you’re near Bingfield Park from 6-8pm please do join us for the party. All welcome!
