Day 3 in Bingfield Park and perhaps it’s time to tell you a little more about this new country we’re discovering. Here’s what we’ve found out so far:
Flags – Bingfield now has a new flag, or rather flags, thanks to the efforts of Bee and the craft team. Despite yesterday’s, ahem, issues with the gazebo the craft team pressed on regardless and it was a good place to get to know the kids better and have some good conversations with them.
National Anthem – ‘Lead me Lord’ is the official song of Bingfield Park, a song written by Michelle, Rach and all the kids at Bemerton Soul. We added lots of new lines to the anthem today which were different times the kids wanted God to lead them including – when they’re happy, lost and want to pray.
Royal Family – It was a big day for the Royal Family today as Prince Guy was getting married and Queen Audrey was a little over-excited by things. However not all shared her excitement as Mark F turned down an invite to work on his guns and Kate M would rather go see Jedward. Rubbish! Thankfully in the second round of invites the kids were much more enthusiastic than they were and all of them wanted to say yes! Alexandra then told us this was like the Kingdom of Heaven Jesus talked about. The invites are going out and would you say yes?
Prayer – My favourite bit of the day was prayer time after Bemerton Soul. We asked the kids in small groups to write some things they wanted to pray for on a slip of paper and put it in the suitcase. We had about 20 slips of paper and it was great as a team of leaders to pray for the things that were on the kids’ minds.
And the best bit is that unlike previous years, we still have 2 days to go!
