Day 2 of Bemerton Soul has once again passed off peacefully and great reports are coming back from Bingfield Park.
Let’s here from Rach who is part of the travelling group on board the youth bus (pictured left):
The youth bus has been going really well. We had about 15 kids on there today. However going out to do detached work has been tricky due to the riots a lot of people have stayed indoors who would otherwise be out and about.
And from the kids side this just in from Steve:
Over on the park itself we can look at the day one of two ways. On the one hand it was another quiet day and even had one or two people leaving as their parents wanted to keep their kids with them. Another was that the relationships really deepened in the teams today, especially in small groups.
It was a joy today in the middle part of the afternoon when the kids joined in our national anthem ‘Lead me Lord’, watched the Queen and Guy (and Kai) re-tell the story of the Lost Son and then Jess told us about how God will always love us no matter what. God even loved Jess after her big crime as it kid – it was rather shocking and their was audible gasps from the teams at her confession!
I loved watching the small group time when the four teams spent time exploring God’s love with the kids. Just watching them sit peacefully in the park finding out more about each other and God’s love was my highlight of the day. And in the briefing to find out just how deep those conversations were.
We also had a double birthday today so we all got a slice of birthday cake as well – that’s not bad for a Tuesday is it?
After that Steve’s comments became muffled by what sounded like some sort of sweet, cakey substance.

Good that all knew God would protect them from the rioters. That is what they wanted to close down the city, and the MPs fell for it. Glad someone continued but the MPs haven’t your faith. All the very best to for not wavering. Hope more children will come.
